Bengal: Two Muslims lynched by mob on allegations of cattle theft

Two Muslim persons were lynched by a mob that accused them of stealing cattle near Bagdogra in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district on Saturday, the Hindustan Times reported. Three others were injured after the mob set their pickup van on fire.

The two persons who were killed have been identified as Shahid Akhtar, a resident of Chopra in West Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur, and Sajjad Mohammad, a resident of Haryana, the newspaper quoted Additional Commissioner of Police of Siliguri Anirban Majumdar as saying.
The three injured were identified as Amir Sattar, Akram Khan and Arif Khan, all residents of Haryana.
