The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies have no love lost between the two, especially in this decade when both teams started adding some great players to their rosters. The rivalry has been filled with regular-season battles and playoff battles.
During this past month, it has been playoff baseball between the two. After the Braves' win on Thursday in the Wild Card Series, it was the 10th time the two teams had met in the last month. The drama between the two started in the first series of September when Zack Wheeler called Ronald Acuña Jr. out for his home run trot.
““It's up to him to do what he wants. Our guy just rounds the bases that hits 50 here,” Wheeler said.
Those were interesting words of choice from Wheeler, but I guess his team was winning by a couple of runs. His teammate Bryce Harper would do the same thing the following weekend. In Philadelphia, Acuña played the villain, to say the least, and he mentioned that he likes playing there and for the fans.
“I love the fans from Philly because they boo me," Acuña said. "So, that's motivation."
This playoff series had a lot on the line considering it would have been the third straight playoff series the Phillies beat the Braves in dating back to 2022. However, it didn’t happen. At the conclusion of the game, Acuña trolled Philadelphia by doing the night night celebration.
“This is Ronald Acuña Jr., signing off,” MLB posted.

That is exactly what the Braves did to the Phillies: They put them to sleep after completely controlling the game on Thursday night. Acuña gets the last laugh for now, one that Wheeler started back when he called the former MVP out.
Philadelphia and Atlanta’s rivalry will be a great one for the next few years as both teams are going to continue to compete. Acuña is going to troll the rival Phillies any chance he gets, and he sure did on Thursday night.
