SDSU quarterback Chase Mason doubtful for Saturday

BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) — The No. 2 South Dakota State University Jackrabbits are about hit the midway point of the regular season this weekend when they travel to Normal, Illinois to take on the No. 10 Illinois State University Redbirds.

The Jackrabbits picked up a nice victory over Eastern Illinois in their last matchup, led by a great rushing attack in the absence of starting quarterback Chase Mason.
While backup quarterbacks Josh Holst and Jack Henry played well enough in Mason's absence, Jacks fans would love to have the senior signal caller under center heading into the biggest game of the year so far.
Head Coach Dan Jackson gave an update on Mason's status for Saturday in his weekly press conference.
"He's going to make the trip and we'll see the plan once we get out there, but it's Tuesday. He's recovering from a sprain and we'll see how that goes as he continues to do more and how his body handles it, but we're expecting {Jack} Henry and Josh {Holst} to take most of the snaps this week and most likely be, and really be the guys this Saturday, unless there was some unforeseen change in Chase's progress," Jackson said.
The matchup with the Redbirds, with or without Chase Mason, kicks off Saturday at 6:00 P.M.
