Packers will sign former Wisconsin Badgers lineman Kevin Zeitler

GREEN BAY – Three weeks into the season, the Green Bay Packers offensive line overhaul accelerated with general manager Brian Gutekunst signing veteran guard Kevin Zeitler.
The 36-year-old native of Waukesha and 2023 Pro Bowler is signing a one-year deal with the team, according to ESPN. Zeitler has played almost exclusively at right guard in his career and likely will replace Jacob Monk, who has struggled in three starts.

It’s uncertain if Zeitler will be ready for this week’s trip to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he should begin taking practice reps as early as Wednesday, Sept. 30. Zeitler did not participate in a camp this offseason and may need time to get into football shape.
A first-round pick in 2012, the former Wisconsin Badger has started 213 games in his NFL career. He is the third veteran offensive lineman the Packers have signed since last week’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons, joined by guard Laken Tomlinson and guard/tackle Mekhi Becton.
The Packers offensive line has been incapable of protecting quarterback Jordan Love or getting movement in the run game this season, inducing Gutekunst’s rapid overhaul before the calendar reaches October.
