Phillies-Braves Game 2 Drama

After the Philadelphia Phillies made two big defensive mistakes in the seventh inning against the Atlanta Braves, their season was on the ropes, down 3-1.

Harper was one of the players who made a big mistake on a fly ball in right field, where he hasn’t played much since moving to first base.

However, in the top of the eighth inning, Kyle Schwarber crushed a slider from lefty reliever Dylan Lee, one of the league’s better bullpen pitchers.

Lee is a southpaw who does great against lefties, but he hung a pitch, and Schwarber did not miss.

Then, Harper tattooed a baseball himself, hitting a second consecutive solo shot to tie the game up.

Now the Braves were forced to deploy more of their better relievers; things went into extra innings, and eventually, Alec Bohm hit the go-ahead solo home run that won the game for the Phillies.

Why this is great for the Dodgers

Just as it seemed the Braves were getting ready to pack up for Los Angeles, they are now playing a no-holds-barred Game 3, where both teams will do whatever it takes, leading to a more taxing inning for both pitching staffs and a bigger rest edge for the Dodgers.

It cannot be overstated how great the Phillies-Braves going three-game is for the Dodgers.

The Braves or Phillies need to use another starter, since both teams deploy everything they have in one game before facing a veteran, experienced Dodgers team that should look great after a break.

There is plenty of debate about which team the Dodgers match up better against, but, according to Dave Roberts, that is not on the team’s mind.

What will be on their mind is that in the postseason, where every edge matters, the Dodgers just got one that will pay dividends over a five-game series.
