‘Malachi Toney Isn’t Human’, ‘Heisman Him’ — CFB Fans Erupt Over Miami WR’s 1-Handed Grab in 52–3 Blowout Win
· Yahoo Sports
Malachi Toney is in the middle of his second college season with the Miami Hurricanes, and he continues to find ways to make headlines.
After breaking Miami’s single-game receiving yards record with a 12-catch, 234-yard, three-touchdown performance against Stanford in Week 1 and emerging as a Heisman favorite in the weeks that followed, Toney’s athleticism was again on full display against the Central Michigan Chippewas on Saturday.

While Miami rolled to a 52-3 win over Central Michigan to remain undefeated, Toney stole the spotlight with an incredible one-handed catch.
Malachi Toney Leaves Fans Stunned With Unreal One-Handed Grab
Throughout the night, Toney proved to be a reliable target for Miami quarterback Darian Mensah, finishing with six receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown.
But his most spectacular play never made it onto the stat sheet, as his one-handed grab in the end zone would have been a 12-yard touchdown.
On second-and-5 near the goal line, Mensah’s pass sailed toward the end zone with defenders closing in. Toney somehow hauled it in with one hand for what appeared to be another spectacular touchdown.
The play was wiped out, however, after Toney was called for offensive pass interference.
The catch sent the college football community into a frenzy.
“Good lord: Malachi Toney is NOT human!” NFL insider Jordan Schultz tweeted, reposting a clip of Toney’s insane grab.
“They called Malachi Toney for offensive pass interference, but my goodness, what a catch with one hand and keeping the feet in,” WPLG Local 10 sports director Will Manso wrote.
“I know it happens fast. And there’s no replay here. But yes, that is ONE-handed, by the unstoppable Malachi Toney,” John Frascella chimed in.

Toney has been putting together an incredible season, scoring a touchdown in six consecutive games and in 10 of his last 11 games.

Toney has recorded zero drops on 178 career targets, according to ESPN Insights. With his consistent production, Toney has increasingly entered the Heisman Trophy conversation.
Saturday’s performance only added to the optimism surrounding his potential.
“Heisman him,” one wrote.
“Top-five pick,” another fan declared.
Toney was also phenomenal in Miami’s run to the national championship game during the 2025 season. He finished the season second among wide receivers in PFN College WR Impact Score with an 86.0 grade.
