Jameis Winston gives incomprehensible pregame interview before first start of season

Jameis Winston started for the New York Giants in Week 3 game against the Tennessee Titans. Winston came into the season expecting to be the veteran backup, but is now the starter after Jaxson Dart suffered what turned out to be a season ending injury on Monday night.

Today marks Winston’s 90th career start, but just his 18th since he left Tampa Bay following the 2019 season. Last year he started two games for the Giants. On Monday night Winston completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and one interception when he replaced Dart.
That might have been too much for some quarterbacks to handle, but the thing about Jameis Winston is, he always knows exactly what to say. Here’s his pregame interview with CBS’s AJ Ross before kickoff today.

Asked how confident he was about carrying the team going forward, Winston said, “One thing that I do, was forgetting those that is behind and reaching forward to what’s ahead.”
After a brief pause to process that, Ross asked how the weather would affect the game.
“Man, I’m so grateful that we get to focus on winning one play at a time,” said Winston. “The circumstances, conditions and facts, they don’t matter. It’s us doing. Being doers. Not speakers.”

What does any of that mean? No one knows. What’s important is that Winston continues to motivate his teammates with incomprehensible made up sayings. Whatever it is he’s trying to say, he says it with an enthusiasm that you can’t help but appreciate.
