In hindsight. I guess we didn't realize how bad college football fans had it.
Sure, there was an Ohio State-Texas game here and a Mississippi-LSU game there, but not the volume we'd like.
Finally, four weeks into the season, there is a little bit of something for everybody.
The headliner is another Texas game, this time at Tennessee. The Manning Bowl will provide more evidence, pro or con, about Arch's value at Texas and as the possible No. 1 NFL draft pick.
But that game, oddly being played in the morning opposite Illinois-Ohio State, might not be the best in the conference. That wpould be resurgent Florida against Mississippi, which is fresh off making Lane Kiffin cry. In the Spurrier or Urban Meyer days, the Gators would have been a lock against the Rebels. But we are on a different planet now and many were upset when Florida was installed as the favorite. My concern is that Mississippi is getting too much credit for beating an LSU team that might not be very good.
We will find out soon enough with the Tigers hosting Texas A&M on Saturday. LSU is favored by more than a touchdown, which feels like a mistake.
Back to the Big Ten for the nightcap, Oregon at Southern California. The Ducks are still trying to recover from the loss to Oklahoma State. Dan Lanning is dissing his own team and I am starting to wonder if Oregon maybe is never supposed to win the national title.
One game outside the Top 25 I'm keeping an eye on involves a pair of 2-1 teams with Western Michigan hosting Boise State. Likely the last chance for the MAC Broncos to lose, so this could be for a spot in the CFP. Boise's lone loss was by a touchdown at Oregon.
Enjoy the weekend everyone and remember to exercise and talk to your families ... between games.
