A penalty from Steven MacDonald and a goal from Conor Jones gave leaders Newtonmore an early 2-0 lead against bottom side Kyles Athletic, before Struan Ross grabbed their third goal on the stroke of half-time.
Captain Iain Robinson helped himself to a second-half hat trick, while Declan Brannan also netted in a comperehensive victory.
Meanwhile at The Dell, Roddy Young scored five of Kingussie's seven goals against Lochaber, with Rory Munro and Jack Nelson also on the scoresheet.
It means Newtonmore still lead their arch rivals by six points, however, Kingussie have two games in hand and a goal difference advantage of six as the two sides prepare to go head-to-head on 10 October at The Dell.
Elsewhere, there were victories for the next two sides in the league as Oban Camanachd defeated Caberfeidh 3-0 at Strathpeffer and Kinlochshiel overwhelmed second-bottom Col Glen 6-0, despite the game being moved to Drumnadrochit due to Kinlochshiel's waterlogged pitch.
Col Glen's defeat means they face an even tougher task to stay up as they trail Skye by two points but having played four games more. Kyles below them appear doomed.
Two goals from Fraser Watt helped Inveraray defeat visitors Glasgow Mid Argyll 5-0 in the National Division.
