Championship-winning Middlesex County girls basketball coach resigns

Tim Corrigan, who has spent the past three seasons as the head girls basketball coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, leading the Trojans to three straight conference and county titles, has resigned and will join the staff of the boys team at his alma mater.
Corrigan, who played his high school ball at St. Joseph-Metuchen, will join head coach Mark Taylor’s staff after compiling a 69-22 record at St. Thomas, leading the team to the Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division title all four seasons, as well as the GMC Tournament championship.

“I’m a proud St. Joe’s alumnus and I’m very excited to go back and coach at the program where it all started for me,” Corrigan said Friday morning. “I really appreciate Mark for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to continuing the winning tradition at St. Joe’s.”
After graduating from St. Joe, Corrigan played his college ball at Kean University, graduating as one of the best players ever to come through the program. He then played four years of pro ball in overseas where he also got his first taste of coaching, leading a professional women’s team and a high school boys team in Europe.
After two season as an assistant coach at Kean and then coaching CYO and AAU, he took over the program at Watchung Hills where he spent two seasons before moving to St. Thomas.
