The Sabres and the Red Wings are both going for back-to-back wins on Thursday night in Game 3 of the preseason.
Detroit is 1-0-1 so far this preseason. The team opened with a shootout loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday. After scoring no goals in the opener, Detroit then beat up on the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 7-4 thumping. The team scored three straight and four of the next five goals in that game. Detroit defenseman Anton Johansson filled the stat sheet with four assists.
Buffalo has had a preseason start similar to Detroit’s. They struggled to score in their opener against Pittsburgh, losing 4-1. However, the Sabres turned things around and got a comfortable 5-1 win against Columbus on Tuesday. After no goals were scored in the first period, Buffalo controlled the rest of the game, scoring the first five goals. The team also outshot the Blue Jackets 35-25.
The Red Wings will finish their preseason with a rematch against the Blue Jackets on Saturday. The Sabres will end their preseason with a home rematch against the Penguins on Saturday.
