The Los Angeles Chargers have begun the 2026 NFL season with a 0-2 record, losing to both the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders by the same score: 26-14.
In both of those losses, quarterback Justin Herbert struggled. He wasn't the sole reason for the losses, but he played a big role. Going forward, it's fair to have some questions about Herbert, as he's been putting together a string of poor games for the Chargers lately.
Things have gotten to such a bad point with Herbert that ESPN's Dan Graziano is questioning if Herbert will ever play at a high level again. It's a brutal sign for the Chargers' QB, as this question proves how poorly things are going lately.

"If this season doesn't turn around, I think we're at the point where it's worth having a real conversation about whether Herbert will ever really be the high-level quarterback his talent says he should," Graziano writes.
This is a brutal analysis of Herbert from Graziano, as he's questioning whether the Chargers QB will ever play at a high-level again.
Coming into the 2026 season, there was so much hype about the Herbert pairing with Mike McDaniel that these early-season struggles are sparking major concern.
So far through two games, Herbert has 401 yards passing with two touchdowns and three interceptions and a 31st-ranked 29.3 QBR.

The 28-year-old has been labeled as one of the NFL's best quarterbacks thanks to his incredible arm and the tools that should lead to Herbert being an elite quarterback.
But his struggles this season so far have already led Graziano beginning to question if Herbert is as "high-level" of a quarterback as he's been claimed to be.
Graziano is holding off on these questions until after the season is over, but there should be some real question marks about Herbert beginning to build after these two poor starts.
It's not all his fault, but Herbert is still partially to blame for how bad the season's gone so far. If things don't improve, there might be some very uncomfortable conversations about Herbert and his ceiling after the 2026 season.
