‘Being assessed this morning’: Man Utd currently contemplating whether to block player from going on international duty

Manchester United are currently considering whether or not to allow Benjamin Sesko to depart for international duty.

According to Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall, the forward is ‘being assessed by United’s medical team this morning’.
Marshall adds that there is ‘tension’ between the Red Devils and Slovenia over Sesko’s fitness, and he has not featured for his national team in 11 months.
The 23-year-old missed out in Sunday’s away clash at Craven Cottage, with Michael Carrick explaining pre-match that he had ‘pulled up with a bit of pain’ following the midweek defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Sesko is United’s only out-and-out centre-forward in the squad, but that hasn’t led to him holding a starting spot.
Instead, Carrick has utilised Matheus Cunha, who scored his first Premier League goal to rescue a late point yesterday, in the No.9 position for the opening matches of the term.
As a result, Sesko has yet to start in the league, and will now be waiting another three weeks before he has the chance to.
From United’s perspective, you can understand why they’d be reluctant to block the youngster from playing over the break.
Keeping him at Carrington and ensuring he reaches full fitness bodes much better for the club, especially given fixtures will be coming thick and fast when the break concludes in October.
Elsewhere, however, the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez – amongst others – will all be in action over the coming weeks with their respective countries.
