Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell, who finished with 320 passing yards and three scores, kept it all in perspective.
“I still have a long ways to go,” Russell said during an on-field postgame interview. “Still developing.”
That’s quite a statement from Russell, who also added 56 yards and touchdown on the ground.
“Three things coach always says is keep your completions, keep the ball going forward and don’t take sacks or negative plays,” the quarterback said.
“I feel like we did that fairly well today.”
Russell cited the struggles — and turnovers — a week ago against Kentucky.
“I know I had to come into this game limit the turnovers and mistakes, stop playing like a rookie, stop playing timid,” he said. “Be calm in the pocket, and I think I showed that today.”
He was quick to credit teammates for the offensive success.
“I would not have done anything without this team,” he said. “These guys came out ready to dominate.
“Man, oh, man, we put up 50 today. I’m just so blessed and so glad I’m on this still team.”
