Marvin Lewis likes what he sees in the new-look Bengals defense

The Cincinnati Bengals are getting geared up for a date with the Houston Texans this Sunday as they look to move to 2-0 on the young season. A major reason for their win in week one over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was the play of the new-look defense for Zac Taylor and Al Golden.

Forcing four turnovers, it was a great sight for Bengals fans as they hope to see their team make a run back to the playoffs. There is still a long season to go, but the fans aren’t the only people impressed with the defense in week one. Former Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis also likes what Al Golden has going on.
On Inside Football, Lewis had this to say;
“They played confident; they stripped the football. They were going after it each and every play. Adding [Boye] Mafe from the Seahawks, Jonathan Allen, Bryan Cook, who actually was a camper at the Marvin Lewis football camp, and he reminded me that when I was there.
“Then their second-round pick, also, Cashius Howell. These dudes came through, man. The two young linebackers were not a liability on defense, and then the secondary played their tail off, and that’s what they needed.”

With impressive safety play from Jordan Battle and good pressure from a retooled defensive line, it finally looks like the team has something to work with on the defensive side of the ball.
Will that continue against the Texans? Going to be interesting to watch this Sunday.
