Conferences returned to weekly Availability reports for conference games for the 2025 season. We’re back to continue that structure with the availability report and updates for Week 3 against Wake Forest.

Visit mchezo.co.za for more information.

The initial report came out Tuesday night at 8pm. Here is the update for Wednesday night:

Sophomore TE Luke Gilbert was already known to be out for the year with a previously disclosed injury. CB Ja’boree Antoine is also listed as OUT, as he continues to recover from an injury that has kept him from playing yet this season.

CB O.J. Frederique got injured on the 2nd play of the game at Stanford and hasn’t played since. Mario Cristobal classified this injury as significant after the Stanford game, and the hope is that we see Frederique back in late November or December.

The latest addition here for Miami is CB Xavier Lucas. The Wisconsin-transfer missed the FAMU game, and is expected to be out “about a month” per Cristobal. Not a big loss in a vacuum, but big in the aggregate.

Miami is now down 3 of their top 5 cornerbacks. S Bryce Fitzgerald has moved to CB in their absence, youngsters got tons of reps vs FAMU last week and we could see them as well, and superstar true freshman (and my favorite player) J.J. Dunnigan has moved into the starting lineup at Safety next to Zechariah Poyser to replace Fitzgerald. Lots of moving pieces for Miami, and it will be interesting to see how that works moving forward.

Something else to watch: the status of RB Jordan Lyle. He’s yet to play this year with criminal charges from an alleged speeding and evading police incident pending. Recently, the felony charges were dropped by the prosecutor’s office, but misdemeanor charges are still pending. Mario Cristobal has said there is no update on Lyle’s status, but it will be interesting to see if he pops up as OUT on the final availability report tomorrow, just like he did for the opener against Stanford.

On the Wake Forest side, they have only 2 players listed on the report.

First, Miami-transfer WR Ny Carr was downgraded from doubtful on Tuesday to Out on Wednesday. The Georgia native has yet to record a statistic for Wake Forest this season.

Conversely, staring WF QB Gio Lopez is listed as probable. So, the expectation is that he plays, and looks to lead Wake to one of the upsets of the season against Miami.

The Miami Hurricanes face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on FRIDAY NIGHT at 7:30 pm eastern. The game will be televised on ESPN.
