So McConkey is attempting to line up for Sunday. He and the Chargers are aiming to avoid the 0-2 start following week one’s stunning letdown loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Harbaugh became outcoached by a first-year head coach in Mike LaFleur that afternoon in Inglewood. Arizona unleashed star tight end Trey McBride that afternoon too, catching nine passes for 95 yards with one touchdown. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett threw for 277 yards and the one aerial score to McBride, which came inside the Chargers’ 10-yard line.
The Chargers also struggled to bottle Arizona rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, who scored his first touchdown of his career and finished with 41 yards total. A run-oriented Chargers team finished with netting only 81 yards on the ground. McConkey ended catching five passes for 82 yards and scoring on an eight-yard touchdown during the third quarter.
Now the Chargers will welcome a suddenly rejuvenated Las Vegas Raiders team led by their own rookie head coach Klint Kubiak. Vegas rolled to the 27-13 romp of the Miami Dolphins, which featured running back Ashton Jeanty totaling 147 yards of offense and scoring twice on receiving plays.
