Caitlin Clark brought some real spark off the bench in Team USA’s gold-medal final against France, even with limited floor time. She put up an efficient 12 points, three assists, and a rebound on 4-of-5 shooting in just 13 minutes, including a huge buzzer-beating three late in the second quarter.
However, it wasn’t completely smooth sailing, as she racked up four turnovers and picked up a fourth-quarter tech for arguing a call, but her talent was obvious.
Over the whole tournament, Clark averaged 7.8 points while leading the team with 5.3 assists per game, headlined by a wild 14-point, 11-assist double-double in the opener against China.
Cindy Brunson slams Caitlin Clark’s World Cup actions
In a post that has since been deleted, former ESPN broadcaster Cindy Brunson called out Caitlin Clark once again on Threads.
She said: ‘For the Caitlin Clark fans let’s not just highlight 13 pts in 12 mins. 2 of her team high 4 turnovers late 2Q were inexcusable. Thankfully, she hit that 3 to beat the halftime buzzer to atone & make it a one possession game. Getting a technical foul right as the 4Q started for arguing an offensive foul call also not a good look. Her teammates had to grab her to stop her complaining. I’m glad she hit her shots 4Q when the game had already been decided. Every world stage rep is a step.’
This came after Brunson’s ‘hate post’ on Clark just weeks before the FIBA World Cup, where she seemed to suggest she would struggle with the physicality in Berlin.
Despite how many times she denies an agenda against Clark, it does seem as if there seems to be some kind of dislike toward the Indiana Fever guard.
