Blackpool Fans Verdict: What A Difference 125 Days Make
· Yahoo Sports
On May 3 this year, we ended our season in one of the most depressing ways imaginable – losing at home in the torrential rain, with zero shots on target – against Blackpool.

Fast-forward just a few months and, against the same opposition, we were able to celebrate a brilliant, thorough, entertaining win. It wasn’t just the three goals, all of which were fantastically worked in their own right, but just the way we created chance after chance. This team is an exciting watch, and that’s all we’ve ever really wanted.
Here’s how the fans reacted to another lovely afternoon at the SCL Stadium…
An entertaining win
Even the wins last season were drab. In the last week we’ve seen Reading play twice, score eight goals, have 39 shots (11 on target) and get two wins.
For that, you have to take your hat off to Leam Richardson. He said when he joined that he wants his team to play exciting, dynamic football; it looks like we’re finally starting to see that in practice.
See, fans love winning, of course we do. But really, we also want to be entertained. We want to enjoy going to watch our team play and look forward to the next game. It’s been a while since we’ve had that, but we’ve got it at the moment…
This is so crazy. Im enjoying the football again at the SCL. #readingfc win, lose or draw this team and management are entertaining the fans again.

Seeing your team win and playing well again, the feeling is unmatched.#ReadingFC

Another great win that. Feels like a bit of a shift to not throw points away late on and instead respond positively after conceding. Love to see it. #readingfc

Played brilliantly for most of that game and thoroughly deserved the 2-goal win. Wonderful to see us playing as a positive, energetic team. Long may it continue. #readingfc

Not a fan of Richardson, but maybe, just maybe, he’s learned from last season that parking the bus doesn’t work. At 2v1, here we go again, but no, positive subs and pushing for a 3rd goal to kill the game. #readingfc

Despite the nervy last quarter of the game it was still enjoyable, some good spells of exciting football and a good result. #readingfc

Best performance under Leam for me. Exciting, fast attacking football with pacy wingers. Real quality off the bench. May have been wrong about our business over summer… #readingfc

What an enjoyable performance.

All starters played well, every substitute did something and – for once – we didn’t crumble under pressure.
Rino and Lisbie exceptional today, probably give my MoTM to the latter for the goal contributions. #readingfc
How long has it been since we played back to back games and deserved to win both games. A great performance today against a decent Blackpool team #readingfc

Kyreece Lisbie
You can see why the club wanted him so badly, can’t you?
He is a Richardson player to a tee: a constant threat going forwards but also puts an absolute shift in defensively. And the thing that fans cherish the most: you can tell he absolutely loves playing for us and donning the blue and white.
He grabbed another assist and that elusive first goal on Saturday, and he’s already firmly become a fans’ favourite…
What a day to wake up in the Lisbie Nation #readingfc

You take a lot from a player celebrating. Lisbie WANTS to be here 👏🏻 #readingfc

I am so glad I was wrong about some slight worries I had about Lisbie

Seems to be the player that first half of last season showed and then some! #readingfc
We are so lucky to have Lisbie 💙 #readingfcpic.twitter.com/h8Ye3Bke3k

@ReadingFC where are the Kyreece Lisbie souvenir cups at? We need them… #readingfc

Look at how much that meant to Lisbie. Delighted for him. But how lucky are we that we’ve got someone like that playing for us after years of disinterested looking players #ReadingFC

Andy Rinomhota
There are few more heartwarming sights as a Reading fan seeing a completely fit Andy Rinomhota in full flow. He was at his imperious destructive best against Blackpool.
If we keep him available, we’ve objectively got one of the best midfielders in this division. Put him alongside Lewis Wing and George Earthy and that’s a midfield triumvirate most teams in this league would rip up their current starting XI for.
While Lisbie is making his first impressions on the fanbase, seeing Rino in this kind of form is bringing back some wonderful memories…
Lots of tweets about Rino and rightly so. He really is different gravy. Everywhere on the pitch, crunching tackles, gorgeous passing. He’s the complete package. #readingfc

Said when he signed if he's fit Rino will be the best midfielder at the club, proving it now. #readingfc

Rino. Speechless. What a player. #readingfc

Rino looks a class above the rest, the guy is an absolute joke in midfield #readingfc
— olly appleby (@olly29000915) September 5, 2026
I was doubtful we'd ever see a Rinomhota that could be really effective again when he came back to the club. But wow had he proved me wrong, brilliant the last couple of games, gives us so much drive and bite in midfield but also a fantastic ball carrier #readingfc
— Tom Maynard (@ttmaynard) September 5, 2026
Thought Ward and Rinomhota were excellent today, certainly wouldn't want either of them to be injured this season if #ReadingFC are to mount a promotion push this season
— Jamie Harden (@MrCompo) September 5, 2026
Haven’t seen that bite in midfield that Rinomhota brings since we had Rinomhota in there #readingfc

Conclusion
Simply put, I just love watching this team play at the moment. And it’s such a wonderful feeling as a fan when it’s as simple as that: you go and watch your team, you have a good time, you look forward to the next game, repeat.
It hasn’t been this easy or exciting in a very long time, and we should just cherish this moment in time, however long it lasts.
But that’s also the thing, isn’t it? With the momentum we’re starting to build, the obvious amount of quality we’ve got all over the pitch and notoriously average quality of the rest of the league, there’s a huge opportunity for us to turn this into a very, very exciting season indeed.
