Kolo Muani defends Spalletti after manager asked for more from him

Randal Kolo Muani was defended by sections of the media and some fans when Luciano Spalletti appeared to put the blame on him for the chances he missed during Juventus’ first Serie A match of the season against Frosinone.

The Frenchman joined the Bianconeri this summer after lengthy transfer negotiations with PSG, meaning expectations are high around him. The Old Lady also expects him to make a significant contribution after working hard to secure his return to Turin.

Kolo Muani understands the pressure as he looks to meet expectations at the Allianz Stadium, but the opening league game was certainly one he will want to forget. The attacker had opportunities to make a difference but was unable to convert them.

So far, he has not made the quick start he enjoyed when he first joined Juventus on loan a year ago. Juve will hope that changes as the season progresses and the Frenchman becomes more settled.

Kolo Muani accepts Spalletti’s demand

Spalletti is a demanding manager who wants his attackers to be clinical when opportunities arrive. Kolo Muani understands that expectation and accepts that Juventus must make better use of the chances they create.

The Bianconeri need their main attackers to deliver consistently, particularly when they create several opportunities in a match. Kolo Muani will therefore know that scoring regularly is an important part of his responsibility.

Despite the criticism surrounding his performance, the attacker appears to agree with his manager’s assessment. He recognised that Juventus had created enough opportunities and that those chances needed to be converted.

Kolo Muani knows he must improve

Kolo Muani explained his view after the match. He said via Tuttomercatoweb:

” Spalletti is right, when we create so many opportunities, we also have to be able to convert them: and after that match, I knew firsthand that they had the right chances.”

The Frenchman still has many more matches in which to prove himself at Juventus. One disappointing performance does not define his season, but he will know that he needs to start scoring as soon as possible.

With expectations high and Spalletti demanding greater efficiency, Kolo Muani has a clear target ahead of him. Juventus will need him to turn his opportunities into goals and show why the club worked so hard to bring him back to Turin.
