Diamondbacks' Perdomo exits after being hit on helmet by line drive

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo has exited the game in Houston on Sunday, Sept. 6, after being struck by a batted ball.

Perdomo, on first after his base hit to lead off the third, suffered what the team is calling a head contusion when Ketel Marte's line drive found Perdomo's helmet.

The Diamondbacks said they would keep a close watch on Perdomo on Sunday and Monday.

Geraldo Perdomo was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Ketel Marte while on the basepath.

The team begins a three-game series on Monday in Kansas City against the Royals, with first pitch set for 11:10 a.m. MST.

Marte's line shot was measured at 93 mph off his bat.

\n

Perdomo had just enough time to raise his hands to his head before being struck on his way from first to second, but the ball caromed off his helmet and into right field.

\n

Team trainers and manager Torey Lovullo arrived quickly to attend to Perdomo.
