The Whites made seven additions in the window and have began their second season back in the Premier League with four points from two games.
"We've had a really good start," Bijol told BBC Radio Leeds.
"We can be happy with out start but we still have a long way to go.
"The focus is to get as many points as we can and then when the end period of the season comes we can really set ourselves some goals and see where we can finish and what we can achieve.
"We are still in the second year after being promoted and the focus still has to be a little bit on staying in the league. That is the first thing but for sure we have the quality and a really good team to aim even higher.
"The start has been good and I hope we can continue in this way."
Leeds broke their transfer record to sign goalkeeper James Trafford from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £45m, as well as paying £34.1m for Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic among their seven additions.
However, key sales - including Pascal Stuijk's £20m move to Brighton - saw them finish the window on a net spend of £52m.
"I feel like we have a really strong squad this season," Bijol added.
"We have found some improvements, bought some new players in and they raised our level a little bit.
"We have to aim high but like I say our first focus is still to stay in the Premier League. But, we have a really good squad to aim for something bigger as well."
