With the Philadelphia 76ers signing a new center, Kendrick Perkins believes they’re ready to challenge Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
The 76ers signed Tacko Fall, a former Boston Celtics center known for being one of the tallest players in the NBA during his time in the league.

Given that Fall stands at 7’6″, one might imagine the 76ers brought him in to compete with the other top centers in the NBA.

Reacting to the news of the Philadelphia 76ers signing Tacko Fall, Kendrick Perkins took to X and gave his theory on why the team signed the center.
He believes that the 76ers have signed a player of Fall’s size because they have their eyes on the NBA championship and expect to face Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
“Wemby is to blame for this move!!! 76ers definitely going all in!!!”
While Fall is far from the player Wembanyama is, his height and rim-protecting prowess could make him a great tool against the French center.
Fall went undrafted in 2019 before signing with the Boston Celtics, where he spent two years as a two-way player, mostly playing with the Maine Red Claws.
In 2021, Fall signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, becoming a two-way player for them as well. However, the Cavaliers waived Fall quickly before their G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge, signed him.
After failing to impress during his stint with the Charge, Fall found himself bouncing around between several Chinese Basketball Association teams, along with a brief stint playing in New Zealand.
With four years away from the NBA, Fall seems to have earned a move back to the league partly because of his height and partly because he impressed scouts away from the league.
Fall is unlikely to play big minutes for the 76ers, given that he is going to be the second, or possibly third-string center for the team.
But given the injury issues Joel Embiid has struggled with over the years, Fall could see himself receiving big minutes during the regular season.
