In 1907, two years after the conclusion of the Russo-Japanese War, the Indian anticolonial leader Aurobindo Ghose drew attention to the geopolitical connections between India and Asia that rendered the political freedom of India from British rule an essential precondition of Asiatic freedom as a whole.
