Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell scored 68 points in total to lead Stephanie White’s Indiana Fever to a win over the Connecticut Sun, 111-91. The two guards have arguably been the most efficient this season and have led the team to multiple wins. After the team’s last win before the regular season takes a break for the 2026 FIBA World Cup, head coach Stephanie White hailed her two stars by comparing them to another legendary duo.
Mitchell and Clark scored 34 points each, but Clark also dished 12 assists. Moreover, both shot 12-of-19 from the floor. Though the 2018 second overall pick leads the team with 25.0 points per game, Clark is just behind with 22.5 ppg.

The Fever HC believed that the pair was a spitting image of the Phoenix Mercury’s popular backcourt duo, Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter. She said:
“Really, the other two that I can think of off the top of my head are DT and Cappie. Those Phoenix days, they were a dynamic backcourt that could put up big numbers. They both get their own shots, get other people involved. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the explosiveness of two players like Kelsey and Caitlin have been doing and doing it with remarkable consistency.”
Taurasi and Pondexter played in Phoenix from the 2006 to 2009 seasons and led the Mercury to two championships in 2007 and 2009. Clark and Mitchell have also looked comfortable playing off each other.
Clark and other players will now prepare for the international tournament in a bid to bring gold to the country, as the league will soon go on an extended break.
After Stephanie White’s praise, Caitlin Clark highlights key areas to improve
Though the Fever registered a blowout 20-point win over the Sun, Caitlin Clark was not impressed with the team’s effort. In the post-game media session, she addressed the issues and highlighted areas of improvement for the squad.
Clark said:
“It’s not what we want it to be, but you know you still find a way to win and that’s the thing we really have to continue to grow in. How we came out like sleepwalking a little bit.”
The Fever had a slow start, trailing 19-28 in the first quarter, which the superstar pointed out. However, the team took over the second quarter and did not let up after that.
