Daniel Farke: Definitely a good point for us

Leeds United’s unbeaten start to the new Premier League season continued as they fought back from behind to draw with Brentford at Elland Road.

Against an impressive Bees side, England international Dominic Calvert-Lewin brought the Whites level in the second half, leaving manager Daniel Farke pleased with the spirit his side had shown.

“Definitely a good point for us,” he told the media after the encounter. “Very difficult, complicated game, like expected.

“Brentford are in red-hot form. They were excellent in the first half, they fully deserved also to be in the lead at half time. They were the better side.

“I am very proud of my boys of the reaction because I have asked a lot today. First, once you have such a good start into the season, back-to-back wins on the road at Nottingham, then first home game everyone is excited.

“And then the red-hot in form side, Brentford, shows up and plays a first half with so much quality. It was difficult for us. Of course, we could have been a bit braver in the first half, but Brentford was also so good.

“We had to substitute a key player like Joe Rodon. And then the second half, I was asking a lot from our players because we changed the base formation at half time, brought new players again in after the substitution of the first half and got control back.

“But we didn’t find, more or less, a solution in order to open them and create chances to score goals until we then asked the right question and found a way to open them and found a way to equalise.

“I am very happy with our defensive behaviour because you have to go back a long while when Brentford has just scored one goal. All credit goes to my players.”
