Bayern Munich just about won the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup thanks to a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund. Goals from Nathaniel Brown and Michael Olise were enough to stop a buoyant Dortmund side from getting anything in a match where Bayern struggled for a significant portion of the game. Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich made it clear that he isn’t satisfied with how his team won.

“To be honest, I didn’t think the first half was that good,” Kimmich admitted (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “Of course, we were leading 2-0. We’re happy that we won. But from the war we played, we’re still a long way and have a lot, a lot of work ahead of us. We weren’t active enough with the ball, we didn’t always manage to support each other as well.

“We also conceded too much, especially from crosses,” he added. “We need to improve significantly in that area. Also, we failed to control and calm the game down in the second half. We’re satisfied with the result, but not necessarily with the way we played.”
