Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' preseason win over Jaguars

After a lackluster performance in a 29-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills last weekend, the Carolina Panthers bounced back against the reigning AFC South champs on Friday. Behind a sharp offensive offering and a stingy defensive showing, the Panthers took back a 34-17 win over the host Jacksonville Jaguars in their third preseason contest of the summer.
So, who shined down in the "Sunshine State" the most? And who didn't?

Here are the team's best and worst Pro Football Focus grades from the victory . . .

Best of the offense
1. RT Albert Reese IV: 91.5
2. WR John Metchie III: 90.2
3. RG Robert Hunt: 88.5
4. QB Kyle Trask: 87.2
5. WR Roc Taylor: 85.2
Reese earned a team-best 93.3 run-blocking grade. He was also charged with zero pressures over 25 chances.
Metchie reeled in a game-high 77 receiving yards on six catches. Taylor added a touchdown.
Worst of the offense
32. RG Jake Curhan: 53.8
33. LT Stone Forsythe: 53.2
34. TE Feleipe Franks: 50.6
35. WR Brycen Tremayne: 45.4
36. RB Jonathon Brooks: 44.5
Despite getting into an NFL end zone for the first time, Brooks hits bottom. He was held down by his team-worst 6.6 pass-blocking grade after giving up a pair of pressures.
Best of the defense
1. CB Chau Smith-Wade: 87.8
2. OLB Princely Umanmielen: 80.4
3. OLB Isaiah Smith: 77.7
4. S Lathan Ransom: 76.7
5. S Tre'von Moehrig: 71.7
Smith-Wade chalked up a sparkling interception in the second quarter. He led the Panthers with a 91.3 coverage grade.
Umanmielen tallied one pressure and one stop.
Worst of the defense
25. S Demani Richardson: 49.6
26. DT Elijah Garcia: 47.8
27. DT Lee Hunter: 45.5
28. DT Bobby Brown III: 42.2
29. CB DeVonta Smith: 25.5
Smith, who did force a fumble, was saddled with a team-low 24.1 grade in coverage. He allowed one catch for 17 yards over three targets.
