Injury bug plaguing Penn State as 2026 season approaches

· Yahoo Sports

There’s rarely a point in time when a football team isn’t dealing with any injuries, but they should probably be the least plentiful during this time of the year. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for Penn State, who is dealing with a litany of injuries up and down the roster.

The school welcomed back quarterbacks Rocco Becht and Alex Manske for the summer session, after both were sidelined during spring practices. But now other parts of the roster are hobbled as the most important position on the field gets closer to full strength.

The Nittany Lions have been working hard at training camp for weeks now, but a few notable players have been missing. Running back Carson Hansen has been out for the last week, while defensive back Zion Tracy came out of last weekend’s scrimmage hobbled.

While the team has a lot of depth at those spots, the same can’t be said about the wide receiver room, where Brett Eskildsen is nursing an injury. Head coach Matt Campbell isn’t too concerned about any of these injuries, though, according to Sean Fitz of On3 Sports.

Even if none of these absences leak into the regular season, it’s still not ideal for key pieces to be missing valuable time that they could be using to practice and get familiar with their new teammates. The injuries don’t sound too serious, but they are something to keep an eye on as the regular season inches closer.
