Barcelona complete €6 million sale of academy talent to Dutch giants – report

According to SPORT, FC Barcelona have completed the sale of Jofre Torrents to AFC Ajax for around €6 million, including fixed fees and variables, in exchange for 50% of the player’s rights.

The 19-year-old full-back will travel to Amsterdam in the coming hours to undergo his medical and sign his new contract, which will keep him at the Dutch club for the next four seasons.
Agreement completed
The agreement between the two clubs was finalised on Thursday night, when the transfer documents were signed.
Torrents, who joined La Masia in 2017 at just ten years old, will now bring his Barcelona career to an end after making four official first-team appearances, all of them last season.
He also featured in pre-season friendlies against CE Europa and Birmingham City this summer.

The defender is currently waiting for Barcelona’s authorisation to travel to Amsterdam. If permission arrives shortly, he could complete his medical and sign his contract immediately.
Otherwise, he would travel on Sunday to watch his new teammates from the stands, before undergoing his medical on Monday.
Ajax are due to host Heerenveen at 16:45 on Sunday in the second round of the Eredivisie.
More academy departures expected
For Torrents, the move represents his first experience outside Spain. He will join a demanding Ajax side and compete for a starting position with Caio Henrique, who arrived this summer for €10 million.
Torrents’ sale is another step in Deco’s efforts to reduce the squad-size before the transfer window closes.

At least five more departures remain on the agenda.
Indeed, fellow academy talents Marc Casado, Hector Fort, Tommy Marques, Guille Fernandez and Toni Fernandez have all been training separately from the main group in recent days as Barcelona look to avoid injuries while facilitating their exits.
All five remain available for transfer because they are not part of Hansi Flick’s plans.
Barcelona hope to raise plenty of revenue from these departures, while also aiming to retaining some degree of control over the La Masia prospects’ futures through shared rights, buyback clauses, and sell-on clauses.
