According to iDiski Times journalist Lorenz Kohler, the Moroccan champions have made an official offer to Al Ittihad Tripoli for the 33-year-old attacker.
“Thembinkosi Lorch could be in line for a return to the Botola Pro with Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès pushing for a transfer from Libyan giants Al Ittihad Tripoli.”
THEMBINKOSI LORCH WANTED BY MOROCCAN CHAMPIONS
Lorch joined Al Ittihad Tripoli from Wydad Athletic Club shortly before Rulani Mokwena was appointed.
However, the project changed quickly after the Libyan club failed to qualify for the CAF Champions League. Mokwena and the club subsequently parted ways, with the coach later joining Egyptian side Pyramids FC.
Lorch has since been linked with a return to Wydad, but Maghreb de Fes have now entered the race.
Sources told iDiski Times that Fes have made an official offer for the former Orlando Pirates star. The player is reportedly open to returning to Morocco, although his lucrative salary package in Libya could complicate negotiations.
Fes ended a four-decade wait for the Moroccan league title last season. They will now return to the CAF Champions League with renewed ambitions.
DEVIN TITUS ALSO TARGETED
Maghreb de Fes are already building a strong South African connection.
The club have agreed to sign Devin Titus from Stellenbosch FC, as first reported by SABC Sport. The move remains subject to the winger agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.
“Sources have confirmed Raja Athletic Club were also keen on Titus,” reports Kohler, but Maghreb de Fes have won the race for his signature.
The Moroccan champions have also completed a deal for Tshegofatso Mabasa on a free transfer following his departure from Orlando Pirates earlier this month.
That means Lorch, Titus and Mabasa could all be playing for the same Moroccan club.
The move would give Maghreb de Fes three South African attacking options as they prepare for their return to the CAF Champions League.
