SASSA announces ALL payment dates for September 2026

· The South African

The Older Person’s SASSA Grant will be paid first on 2 September 2026, followed by the Disability Grant on 3 September 2026, and the Children’s Grants, including the Child Support Grant and Foster Child Grant, on 4 September 2026.

Unlike some months where dates are pushed later to avoid weekends, public holidays, or Mondays, September’s schedule follows SASSA’s standard early-month pattern, paying out grants on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

How the schedule is decided

SASSA has reiterated that payment dates are set according to a consistent set of principles applied across the financial year. Grants are paid as early in the month as possible, staggered over three separate days to reduce strain on the National Payment System and retail points. Payments are never scheduled for the 1st of the month or a Monday, and any date that would otherwise fall on a weekend or the day after a public holiday is shifted to the next available working day.

Higher grant amounts remain in effect

Beneficiaries will continue receiving the increased grant amounts announced by the Minister of Finance earlier this year. The Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant and Care Dependency Grant now sit at R2 400 following an R80 increase, while the War Veterans Grant rose by the same amount to R2 420. The Foster Child Grant increased by R40 to R1 290, and the Child Support Grant and Grant-In-Aid both rose by R20 to R580.
