Eric Bieniemy returned to Kansas City Chiefs training camp on Monday, Aug. 10, two weeks after his wife, Mia Bieniemy, was allegedly shot by their son, Elijah Bieniemy, at their Ashburn, Va., home on July 26.
The Chiefs offensive coordinator, 56, appeared to be in good spirits on Monday as he walked through the training grounds at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Mo., according to various social media clips posted online.

Bieniemy missed 11 practices to be with his wife in Virginia. Mia was shot in the left forearm and shoulder with a .22 caliber firearm on July 26 at her home, according to a criminal complaint obtained by ABC News, and she was hospitalized.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided an update on Mia’s condition on July 29, telling reporters she was no longer in the ICU after being shot. “Update on Mia Bieniemy, she’s doing great. She’s doing better and great from where she was,” he said at the time.
Elijah, the couple’s 27-year-old son, was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with three felonies — use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding and discharging a firearm within a building — in the shooting, according to Loudoun County court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The Athletic reported last week that two days before the July 26 shooting, Elijah had placed a phone call to police to report his parents had hidden weapons that belonged to him.
In a July 24 phone call, Elijah told police “his parents are withholding his weapons and that he’s a certified UFC fighter so now he feels like he cannot defend himself,” per a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office report obtained by The Athletic.

Elijah is awaiting a mental health competency evaluation. A preliminary hearing, originally set for Monday, Aug. 31, is now scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9.
The Chiefs will host the Los Angeles Rams in their first preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 15.
