Duke has been recruiting at a very high level for a long time now. Over the last couple of years, for instance, Jon Scheyer has brought in Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, and Cameron Boozer, but really, Duke has been killing it in recruiting for decades now.

This year, along with Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje, Deron Rippey, Bryson Howard, and Maxime Meyer, Duke landed Cameron Williams.

A 7-0 native of Phoenix, Williams’s high school coach compares him to Kevin Garnett. Is he that good?

It’s a bit early to make that comparison, but Williams could become really good. Here’s part of what SI’s NBA Draft site says about Williams:

“With his size and mobility, Williams projects to be a high-impact defender at the college level, even in his first season. He should be able to protect the rim at a solid level, especially in playing with multiple bigs, as well as eat up ground and wreak havoc generally.”

We can’t know what the staff is thinking, but only an idiot would look past the defensive potential of Williams alongside Patrick Ngongba. Put Dame Sarr on that front line, and it will get very, very difficult to do anything more than breathe.
