Kentucky Wildcats News: Sam Greene Injury Watch

· Yahoo Sports

Kentucky received encouraging news on the injury front as edge rusher Sam Greene continues progressing toward a return from the ACL injury that ended his 2025 season.

The former USC outside linebacker became a starter for Kentucky Football in year one and really turned it up when he did.

Head coach Will Stein indicated Greene is trending in the right direction, giving the Wildcats optimism that one of their top defensive playmakers could be available early this fall.

“Sam Greene to me is looking great. Expecting him to be a factor for us on defense this year,” Stein said in his opening statement at Kentucky media day.

While Kentucky is still managing several injuries throughout fall camp, Greene’s recovery appears to be one of the program’s biggest positives as the season approaches. His return would provide an immediate boost to a defensive front expected to be a strength under Stein.

We’re only 31 days away from Kentucky’s first game of the season and Will Stein’s much-anticipated debut.
