Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Orioles fans and fans across the country.

Mike Elias waved the white flag on the 2026 season with the trade deadline moves. We can always hold out hope that the Orioles will put together some kind of great run and win just to spite him, in the vein of the classic baseball movie Major League. The odds were long even before the trade, however, and shipping out the players he shipped out has made the team worse and their chances of overcoming the 2.5 game deficit for a wild card spot even more slim.

If it’s not gonna be this year, when? This week’s poll question is focused on how you feel about that in the aftermath of yesterday’s detonation. Can enough be pulled together with the remaining talent in the organization, plus whatever Elias might manage to add over the offseason, to make it happen next year? Or is success more distant than even that?

I’m saying 2028, and I feel like I’m being excessively optimistic to even vote for that. The unfortunate pattern we have seen is that Elias does not have the strategic brains nor the tactical guts to either lay out long-term success or maximize short-term gains. I’d like to be wrong.

What do you think? Vote above and let us know in the comments below. I’ll have some more thoughts on the results on Friday or Saturday.
