Pancakes on, off field for Cincinnati Bearcats football fans Aug. 8

The University of Cincinnati football team will hold a pancake breakfast for fans at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, on the Sheakley Lawn before UC has an open practice in Nippert Stadium at 10 a.m.

The first 100 fans will receive a limited edition syrup bottle, and the offensive line will help serve pancakes to fans.

There will be inflatables, family-friendly activities and an autograph and photo session post-practice with UC players.

In football terms, a "pancake" block is when an offensive lineman sends his opponent to the turf, flattened like, well, a pancake.

With three returning starters from last year's Joe Moore Award (for the nation's top offensive line) semifinalists, UC decided to capitalize on the term and video linemen Evan Tengesdahl, Joe Cotton and Taran Tyo flipping flapjacks and eating pancakes.

Boxes with pancake mix, syrup and a menu card reading "Bearcats House of Pancakes" were sent to Big 12 media members along with the pertinent numbers involving Preseason All-American Tengesdahl and All-Big 12 selections Cotton and Tyo.
