Ahead of this year's deadline, several contenders are looking to enhance their rosters and hoping to boost their chances of making a deep playoff run. With so many teams still hovering around the AL and NL wild-card races, there will be plenty of rumors, but how many trades will actually be completed?
Here is everything you need to know about the MLB trade deadline, including the top available players who could be on the move.
When is MLB trade deadline 2026?
- Date: Monday, Aug. 3
- Time: 6 p.m. ET
The deadline for MLB teams to complete trades is 6 p.m. ET on Monday, Aug. 3. Once that deadline passes, teams will not be able to make trades involving players on 40-man rosters for the rest of the 2026 season.
However, minor leaguers not on 40-man rosters can still be moved after the deadline.
MLB trade deadline 2026: Best available players

Tarik Skubal (P, Tigers)
A two-time Cy Young Award winner, Skubal is the biggest name to monitor. He has a 2.79 ERA with 116 strikeouts in 96 2/3 innings this season, and he has delivered multiple quality starts on the playoff stage.
The Tigers certainly aren't excited about losing Skubal, but after sliding down the AL standings, they may have to consider pulling the trigger on a deal. The 29-year-old can leave in free agency after the season, so Detroit should look to gain as many assets as possible.
Mason Miller (P, Padres)
Miller leads the NL with 28 saves this year, and he has a microscopic 0.79 ERA with 85 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings. Simply put, he is nearly untouchable as a closer, making him the most attractive reliever on the market.
However, the Padres are going to ask for a massive return package as part of any discussion involving Miller, so he may not leave San Diego.
CJ Abrams (SS, Nationals)
Abrams is enjoying the best year of his career in Washington, slashing .289/.362/.555 with 27 home runs and 82 RBIs. He's only 25 years old, and he will be under team control through 2028.
Much like the Padres, the Nationals may listen to offers, but that doesn't necessarily mean Abrams will be wearing a different jersey in August. A suitor would have to put an overwhelming offer on the table.
Luis Arraez (2B, Giants)
One of the league's most consistent contact hitters, Arraez is on track to win the fourth batting title of his career. He is hitting .328 this season, and he has the lowest strikeout rate among all qualified players.
Arraez won't get the same kind of coverage as Skubal, Miller or Abrams, but he could provide a major boost down the stretch.
