The latest (and oldest) on the upcoming Cards’ blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Bahamian adventure.

No TV. No streaming. No radio. No second game. No OEjr. No KK. (Learn the squad’s initials, you’ll be seeing them a lot here.) No chartered flight. No Tommy Bahama souvenir merch.

If I hear any other info as or right after it happens, you’ll hear it second. Always call my guy Smarts first.

Who among us has not contemplated a demarcation line of some sort along the way?

Studying 20th C History?

There’s the Maginot Line. Gun placements and impediments of various sorts, intending to fortify France, ostensibly protecting its eastern flank against the aggression of Germany.

In baseball, there are the ballplayers who infamously “aren’t hitting their weight.”

If the realm is elderly golfers, there’s the gold standard of scoring lower than you’re age.

Which brings me to a Saturday morning contemplation about college basketball players who shall be making more money next season than LeBron James, who is taking his talents to Philadelphia.

Worth well over a billion, it is reported, James will be earning just short of $4 mill in paychecks from the 76ers. Plus all the cheesesteaks he and the fam desire, one has to believe.

Such a deal.

So, the college basketball dudes at theathletic.com surveyed the college scene, talked with insiders across the hoops landscape, and came up with what seems a sensibly reliable list of student athletes playing basketball who shall be earning more than LeBron’s salary this coming campaign.

It is believed there are eighteen such fellows.

Florida Gator Thomas Haugh tops the list.

Three schools have two who are above the LeBron Line.

Louisville with Flory Bidunga and Jackson Shelstad.

Kentucky with Zoom Diallo and Milan Momcilovic.

Indiana with Aiden Sherrell and Samet Yigitoglu.

There’s a lone Blue Devil, and nary a Tar Heel with such an unlimited ATM debit card.

Which confirms, to me anyway, that we in the Kentuckiana Triangle positively absolutely without a doubt care more.

As if we didn’t already know.

Other observations. Only two freshman. Tyran Stokes, of course, at Kansas. And some foreigner I’ve never heard of at UCLA.

And, and, and . . . the most fascinating: One Sananda Fru at Marquette.

Fascinating because Shaka Smart is just dipping his toes into the whole NIL thing, after a couple fallow seasons. Plus Fru, as most Cardinal fans will tell you, was strangely tentative last season for U of L.

Wait til he encounters the rugger of the Big East.

Maybe it will work out for the Warriors>Golden Eagles. Or, like the Maginot Line which failed because the Germans just went north through the tough terrain of the Ardennes and around into Gaul, it will prove to be lots of money ill spent.
