Noah Lyles produced the fastest 100 metres in the world this year as he equalled his personal best to win a third United States title.
The 29-year-old clocked 9.79 seconds at the 2026 USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Icahn Stadium in New York City, in the process matching the time he set in winning gold at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

His time eclipsed the best this year set by Jamaica’s Oblique Seville, who ran 9.82 seconds in Kingston last month.
Ronnie Baker finished second and Kenny Bednarek third, with both being given a time of 9.88 seconds, with 2019 world champion Christian Coleman fourth in 9.93 seconds.
