Former UFC Middleweights Sam Alvey vs. Uriah Hall squared off earlier tonight (Fri., July 24, 2026) from inside the KC Apex in Miami, Florida for Karate Combat 62. In a fun fight, Alvey emerged victorious.

Though Alvey lost his most recent appearance — a brutal Heavyweight title fight versus Robelis Despaigne — “Smile’n Sam” remained the 205-pound champion heading into the event. Hall, meanwhile, built up a 2-0 Karate Combat record ahead of his first title fight, defeating UFC vet Markus Perez and stopping Jayden Eynaud with a spinning back kick.

The fight started chaotically, as Alvey walked into some hard shots and a nice spin kick in the first frame. He kept up the pressure, however, and early in round two was able to ground Hall after ducking a jab. From top position, he hammered away and fatigued his opponent a bit. Back on the feet, Alvey’s jab started to land, and he found a lot of calf kicks too.

Alvey continued to control the pace in round three, but “Prime Time” woke up in the fourth. Leading with his right hand, Hall cracked his opponent several times and then tried to take his head off with a ripping high kick. Alvey returned to his corner very bloody, and the pressure was on with just one more round to go. Hall landed a clean right hand early in the fifth, but Alvey was relentless. His non-stop pressure granted him another period of top control, except Hall was hurt this time and took a lot of damage. He returned to his feet and made it to the final bell, but Alvey was the man throwing shots and pushing his advantage.

Despite the cheers of “ONE MORE ROUND” from the crowd, Alvey was awarded the unanimous decision victory.

This was a fun scrap between UFC vets. Hall was the prettier striker overall, but Alvey’s size and grit wore him down. “Smile’n Sam” is a career overachiever, and his persistence got the job done yet again. If Karate Combat ever creates its own Hall of Fame, Sam Alvey is a first ballot inductee!
