These SIX teams have already qualified for FIFA World Cup 2030

FIFA World Cup 2026 has only just concluded, but attention is already turning to the next edition of football’s biggest tournament – and six nations have already secured their places.
In a historic first, FIFA has granted automatic qualification to all six host nations for FIFA World Cup 2030, meaning they will not have to battle through qualifying campaigns.

Six countries already guaranteed a place
The nations that have booked their spots are:
- Spain
- Portugal
- Morocco
- Argentina
- Uruguay
- Paraguay
Unlike the 2026 tournament, which featured three automatic qualifiers in hosts the United States, Mexico and Canada, the 2030 edition will double that number as it celebrates the centenary of the FIFA World Cup.
A unique World Cup across three continents
The 2030 tournament will be unlike any before it.
Spain, Portugal and Morocco will host the majority of the competition, while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each stage one opening match to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the inaugural World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930.
Although the South American trio will host only a single match each, FIFA has made a special exception by awarding them automatic qualification alongside the three principal hosts.
Celebrating football’s origins
The decision recognises the rich history of the World Cup.
Uruguay hosted and won the very first tournament in 1930, defeating neighbours Argentina in the final, while Paraguay’s inclusion honours its role as the home of CONMEBOL, the oldest continental football confederation.
FIFA has also confirmed that teams involved in the opening matches in South America will receive additional rest before continuing their campaigns in Europe and Africa, helping to offset the demands of long-distance travel.
Qualifying battle still awaits the rest
While six teams can already start planning for 2030, every other nation will have to earn its place through the usual qualification process.
Defending champions Spain will not receive automatic qualification based on winning this year’s tournament, meaning only host status has secured these six nations an early ticket to what promises to be one of the most historic FIFA World Cups ever staged.
