Spain's second goal that ensured it would advance to the World Cup final was dedicated to one tiny fan who couldn't be at the game.

Pedro Porro clinched the heavyweight semifinal match vs. France when he scored in the 58th minute to give Spain a 2-0 lead, but he had mixed emotions after the goal because his son couldn't be there to see it happen.
"My son who couldn’t be with me today because he’s got a fever," Porro said during postgame interviews. "It’s a moment with a mix of emotions because he hasn’t been able to be here and his daddy scored a goal. Being able to dedicate it to him and surely tomorrow he’ll be a bit better."

Porro and partner María Hurtado welcomed their son in September 2025, according to multiple reports. When asked once what his father does when he scores a goal, Porro's son rose his right fist, according to Olympics.com.
"When people ask him how I celebrate goals, he makes that gesture; he was in the front row, so I celebrated that way for him," Porro told Marca earlier in the tournament.
After his semifinal goal, Porro again sat cross-legged on the pitch and raised his right fist.
Spain will play in the World Cup final at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. They will face the winner of Wednesday's semifinal between England and Argentina will await.Porro, a right back and Tottenham Hotspur defender, has been critical for Spain during its World Cup run. He's scored two goals and played 499 minutes, according to FIFA statistics, and became a starter after initially coming off the bench. His other goal came vs. Austria in the round of 32.
All of Spain is celebrating, but the game is not Porro's main priority.
"Sometimes, there are much more important things," Porro said when talking about his son after the match. "He was a bit under the weather, and my wife and I decided to leave him in the hotel with my parents. It hurt me with all my heart, but it's also a game with a lot of tension and I preferred for him to recover."
