Which Bucs player could price himself out of Tampa Bay in 2026?
· Yahoo Sports
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have done an impressive job keeping their core together over the past several seasons, but with a talented roster entering 2026, the front office could soon face some difficult decisions . One player who could make that decision much harder is Yaya Diaby.

Entering a contract year, Diaby has a massive opportunity in front of him. If he takes advantage of Tampa Bay's improved pass rush rotation and puts together a breakout season, he could quickly become one of the most expensive players on the Buccaneers' roster.
And that would create a good problem for Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have been searching for a consistent running mate opposite Diaby for much of his career. Despite flashes from different players, Tampa Bay never had another edge rusher who forced offenses to consistently worry about the other side.
Now, the Buccaneers have invested the 15th overall pick in Reuben Bain Jr., added veteran Al-Quadin Muhammad after a career-best season, and will welcome back David Walker after he missed his entire rookie season with an ACL injury. Anthony Nelson remains a reliable rotational piece, while Chris Braswell enters his second season looking to carve out a larger role. On paper, it is the deepest outside linebacker room Tampa Bay has had under Todd Bowles.
That depth could be exactly what helps Diaby take the next step.
For the first time in his career, opposing offenses can't simply focus all their attention on slowing him down. With legitimate threats surrounding him, Diaby should see more favorable matchups and more opportunities to attack quarterbacks one-on-one. Pass rushers are among the highest-paid players in football, and teams are constantly searching for players who can consistently pressure quarterbacks. A young, explosive edge defender entering his prime will always attract significant interest if he hits free agency. The Buccaneers have already shown they value keeping their own players, but they also have several major financial decisions approaching.
Baker Mayfield, Cody Mauch, and other key contributors could all require new deals in the near future. The Buccaneers clearly believe Diaby is a cornerstone of their defense. Now, he has the opportunity to prove it.
