At least one member of the new-look group received some notable recognition, though, ahead of training camp.
As ESPN continues to roll out its individual position group top-10 rankings, as voted on by executives, scouts and coaches from around the league, new Browns center/guard Elgton Jenkins found himself as an honorable mention on the interior o-line list.
Three other players also received honorable mention, including Seattle Seahawks G, Grey Zabel, Dallas Cowboys G Tyler Booker and Carolina Panthers G, Robert Hunt.
"I'm surprised he didn't have much trade value. I know he's had durability issues, but he's a really quality player who can play all over the line," one AFC executive said of Jankins in the piece, compiled by Jeremy Fowler.
Cleveland Browns Roster Rankings | Defensive Deep Dive | Mike Rutenberg Speaks | Verse's PotentialThe Cleveland Browns are just three weeks away from the beginning of Training Camp and the season is upon us. The Browns received some unfavorable rankings o...Jenkins came to Cleveland as a free agent this offseason, following his release by the Green Bay Packers just before the start of the new league year. That move came after he suffered a lower-leg fracture in the team's Week 10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The ailment also came with some ligament damage.
Versatility is a key piece of Jenkins' profile. He primarily played center during his four years at Mississippi State from 2014-2018, but quickly shifted to guard upon being drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The move proved to be fruitful, with Jenkins making the PFWA All-Rookie Team that season, then following it up with multiple Pro Bowl appearances in 2020 and 2022.
After Green Bay made a few o-line additions ahead of the 2025 season, Jenkins was asked to shift back to his original role as a center where he made nine starts prior to the season-ending injury.
Which spot he'll play with Cleveland remains unclear at the moment. New head coach Todd Monken has asserted that the team has four of its five starters figured out, with Jenkins being one of them. However, if a capable option emerges at center, Jenkins will shift to guard. During mandatory minicamp, Jenkins was primarily settled in at the center spot.
Monken has mentioned that he'd prefer to play him at guard, but training camp will be pivotal in revealing where he ends up along the overhauled o-line.
Jenkins is the only Browns o-lineman to appear on either of ESPN's rankings for o-linemen. The top 5 of the interior group was made up of Cowboys G, Tyler Smith, Indianapolis Colts G, Quenton Nelson, Kansas City Chiefs C, Creed Humphrey, Denver Broncos G, Quinn Meinerz and Chicago Bears G, Joe Thuney.
