After five years away from the octagon, Conor McGregor made his return Saturday night only for the fight against Max Holloway to end shortly after it started due to a knee injury.

The first-round TKO loss is not how the 37-year-old former champion envisioned his big comeback going.

In his first words since the fight, McGregor posted a message on X saying he didn't have any injuries all camp leading up to the fight and that he's "destroyed" by the way Saturday's event went down. The loss marks his third straight dating back to when he was last active, in 2021, and the second straight to end in injury after he broke his tibia against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

"My head gasket is gone. Destroyed. I had no injury / injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell," McGregor tweeted.

With the injuries piling up, you have to wonder if UFC 329 was the last time we'll see McGregor give it a try.
