Jude Bellingham cut through the Norway defense to draw England level just before halftime of the World Cup quarterfinal in Miami. But should the goal have counted?

The Real Madrid star received a pass and expertly cut through the box in the second minute of first-half stoppage time July 11. He extended his left leg to put the ball past Norway's keeper and even the score at 1-1.
But during halftime, Rebecca Lowe explained on Fox that the clearance attempt by Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland that allowed England to control the ball and set up the goal struck the cable holding the TV camera above the field. That caused the sudden dip in the ball's arc that allowed England to control it and set up the attack.

Because of that, play should have been ruled dead, giving Norway a free kick at the spot. Officials on the field as well as VAR officials did not see the infraction.
Norway took the lead on a masterful strike by Andreas Schjelderup in the 36th minute. VAR later negated a Norway goal off a corner kick in the second half because of a foul committed by Erling Haaland.
This is Norway's first appearance in the World Cup quarterfinals, while England is here for the third straight tournament, eyeing a return to its semifinal form from 2018.
Today's winner will wait around to learn their semifinal opponent: Lionel Messi and Argentina, or Granit Xhaka and Switzerland.
