Why did the Indiana Fever let their 2026 WNBA Draft second-round draft pick Justine Pissott leave for the Las Vegas Aces?

Pissott signed a rest-of-season contract with the Aces on Tuesday after the team wavied guard Chennedy Carter. Pissott was a developmental player for the Fever, which meant Indiana chose not to respond to Vegas' move to sign Pissott to their active roster.

The Fever had the first dibs on signing Pissott from their developmental pool when the Aces showed interest, but they chose to let her walk to keep their current roster intact.

Fever coach Stephanie White explained why the team kept back-of-roster players like Grace VanSlooten and Damiris Dantas over signing Pissott to the active roster, citing them as "great culture players," per IndyStar's Chloe Peterson.

Pissott added 3-point shooting potential that the Fever need more from their bigs, as a "stretch four" has been sorely missed on the Indiana roster this season. She had the ability to add to the offense, but perhaps the Fever valued more of what VanSlooten, a fellow rookie, could do on the defensive end of the court in the longterm.

We'll see who the Fever bring in to fill that last developmental spot and how Pissott does with the Aces.

When do the Fever play again?

The team plays the Los Angeles Sparks on the road on Wednesday night.
