Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had a career year in 2025 en route to a Super Bowl victory at the end of the season, but may still have work to do to be considered a top 10 QB in the league.

According to Pro Football Focus’ Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick in their ranking of all 32 starting QBs and how desired they are to lead a team for the 2026 NFL season, Darnold ranked No. 14 overall at the position.
“Darnold turned in a second consecutive excellent season, leading the Seattle Seahawksto a Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots,” Wasserman and Chadwick said. “Including the postseason, Darnold set career highs with a 79.9 PFF passing grade and 8.3 yards per attempt. Any lingering reputation as a first-round bust should be erased after his performance over the past two seasons.”
Darnold was ranked behind Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (No. 11), Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (No. 12) and Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams (No. 13) who just missed the top 10.
The 29-year-old Darnold threw for 4,000 yards for the second consecutive season in 2025 with 4,048, completed 67.7 percent of his passes and added a Vince Lombardi Trophy to his resume. He is likely to put up numbers in the passing game that will warrant appraisal as an elite performer, but his prowess on the ground gives other quarterbacks an edge over him, though he is still liable to perform as a top 10 quarterback on the year.
