PFF Ranks Rutgers WR KJ Duff in Top 50 Best College Football Players for 2026
· Yahoo Sports
Pro Football Focus recently came out with a list of who they believe to be the best 50 players in college football heading into next season. One Rutgers player was named to the list, as Rutgers wide receiver KJ Duff was ranked as the No. 27 player in the nation.
In the description as to why Duff was ranked where he was, the writers pointed out that Duff was the first Scarlet Knight in a while to have over 1,000 receiving yards and that his frame is a huge bonus in any matchup.

“Last season, Duff became Rutgers’ first 1,000-yard receiver since Leonte Carroo in 2014. His massive 6-foot-6 frame allows him to make seemingly impossible catches. His contested-catch total tied for the FBS lead (22), while his 18.1 yards per reception ranked second in the Big Ten. Rutgers’ quarterback situation remains unsettled, but whoever wins the job should make Duff the focal point of the passing game,” said PFF writers Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick.
Duff’s full stats last season include 60 receptions for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging just over 18 yards per catch. This dominance beyond the sticks established Duff as one of the best down-the-field threats in the country.
The preseason polls have reflected this dominance. In addition to being named one of the top 50 players in the country by PFF, he was also named a preseason All-American by Phil Steele, Athlon Sports, and the Walter Camp Foundation.
Much of Duff’s success next season relies on the capability of the quarterback to deliver him the ball. Rutgers currently has a quarterback competition between former backup AJ Surace and former Boston College quarterback Dylan Lonergan. Duff will be the premier target for whoever wins this competition, but his production will rely on their ability to effectively get him the ball. Under former quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, Rutgers saw a revolution in their passing attack, one they will hope to keep going with whoever’s next in line.
